Before you arrive

All new students receive access to our free Welcome to Australia Course, designed to help you feel confident about living and studying in Australia. You’ll learn about:
  • Australian culture and lifestyle
  • How to settle in
  • What to expect in your first weeks at BROWNS
This course can be completed before you travel so you arrive feeling prepared and relaxed.

Warm Welcome

From the moment you arrive in Australia, you’re supported. Support includes:
  • Optional airport transfer
  • Homestay or student accommodation

First Week

Your first week is designed to help you feel confident and comfortable. Orientation commences at 9am.
You’ll take part in:
  • English placement test
  • Campus tour
  • Important academic and student support information
  • City tour including where to set up a bank account, Australian phone number and public transport card

Start Your World Class Experience

Once classes begin, your BROWNS experience really comes to life. You’ll develop your English skills while enjoying an active student lifestyle, new friendships and ongoing support. You can look forward to:

Graduation Day

Over 35,000 students have graduated from BROWNS English Language School. Graduation Day is an informal yet meaningful farewell, organised by your class and teacher. You’ll receive your BROWNS Graduation Certificate, celebrate with friends, take photos together, and some students even sign an Australian flag as a memorable souvenir to take home.

Sample schedule for your first day at BROWNS*

All students complete a placement test on their first day. This helps us place you in the correct class for your English level.
– Tests listening, reading, grammar, vocabulary, speaking and writing
– Takes approximately 1.5–2 hours
– Includes a speaking test and short interview with a member of our Academic Management Team
– A great opportunity to share your study goals and reasons for learning English

Mobile/phone providers
Doctors, chemists and libraries
Nearby shops, cafés and eating options

– Attend an optional pronunciation class, or
– Enjoy some free time and explore the city
