Process
If you want to check your current English level, or if BROWNS has asked you to complete the BOPT as part of your enrolment, simply follow the steps below.

Create
Log in to myBROWNS: https://my.browns.edu.au. If you don’t have an account yet, create one first.

Navigate
From the menu, select “Online Tests”, then click “My Tests”.

Start
When you are ready to begin, select BOPT (BROWNS Online Placement Test) and click “Start Test”.

Complete
After finishing the test, we will let you know when your results are ready (usually take less than a minute).
What you need to know before taking the test:
- You have only one attempt.
- Make sure you have a stable internet connection.
- You have 45 minutes to complete the test.
- It must be completed in one sitting (you can’t save and finish later).
- The test should be completed independently, without help or translation tools (you will be re-tested on your first day).
- Don’t worry — the test is designed to help us place you in the right level, not to pass or fail you.
